About Us

Wallsend Baptist exists to be a place to Belong, Believe and Become.

BELONG

For all our technical connectedness as a society, we seem to be more isolated than ever as individuals. We believe God made us for community, to belong to Him first, and then to each other (1 Peter 2:9-10). WBC aims to be a community where those seeking the truth about who we were created to be, will find a welcome home.

BELIEVE

We want to help everyone who calls WBC home to discover that we find our ultimate purpose and meaning in Jesus. He invites us turn away from our brokenness and sin and to believe in Him. “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12)

BECOME

Faith is not a stagnant thing. Following Jesus means growing daily to become more like Him. At WBC we want to help you to grow in your faith. This means learning to love one another, using our gifts to serve one another, and helping others to encounter the life-changing message of hope that lies at the heart of the Christian story. We are seeking to become all that we were created to be. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Wallsend Baptist Church has been part of the Wallsend community since 1863. We are a diverse group of people from all ages and backgrounds who are bound together by our common belief in Jesus as the source of real life. We belong to the wider family of Baptist Churches of NSW & ACT.

Our Pastor

Mandy & Leigh Dart

Rev Leigh Dart served as Associate Pastor at Wallsend for just over 2 years before being appointed Senior Pastor in 2022. He is married to Amanda and father to Josh & Emily. He entered Morling Theological College in 1993 after a brief stint working for Westpac Bank. After receiving a Bachelor of Ministries, he served many years in youth ministry in NSW and interstate. After retraining as a high school teacher, and working in a variety of schools on the NSW Central Coast, Leigh sensed God’s leading back into pastoral ministry and joined the team at Wallsend to follow that leading. He is passionate about bringing the truth of the good news about Jesus to the community in relevant ways, and equipping the church to confidently live out it’s call to love God and love others.
